Centered on data-driven technologies and innovation, these services include consulting, loyalty and marketing programs, business Test & Learn experimentation, and data-driven information and risk management services.
Within the Data & Services organization, SessionM, a Mastercard Company (now our Merchant Loyalty Program), is a customer engagement platform empowering global brands to forge stronger and more profitable customer relationships. We partner with brands to drive marketing transformation through innovative technology and services. We are seeking a VP of Engineering to create/enhance/operate exceptional loyalty products, provide global oversight for loyalty and engagement solutions to help our retail customers deepen consumer engagement.
This role will be based in Prague, Czech Republic and report into the SVP, SessionM Engineering (Merchant Loyalty Engineering Co-Founder), responsible for leading cross-locational teams to deliver and maintain services across Loyalty, Incentives, Campaigns, Points domains and associated user experiences.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Strong engineering leadership background and proven ability to contribute to development of, and lead implementation of a technology strategy for a robust global loyalty business in a growth cycle;, foster collaborative partnership with product managers to contribute to and deliver product roadmaps aligned with the Mastercard Program Model to fulfill business objectives; previous experience managing executive relationships (stakeholder and customer), working in both small/startup and large technology environments is desirable
- Proven ability to build, manage, motivate and mentor 5+ squads or teams (composed of engineering, Tech Prog Mgrs, Tech Product Owners) distributed globally and enabled to operate independently, with a focus on DEI; identify, onboard and leverage service providers for time to market commitments; bring focus on employee talent development, retention of proprietary subject matter expertise and intellectual property for Mastercard; ability to travel as needed (up to 25%)
- Experience leading teams to build, integrate, deliver and support high volume Digital/Loyalty/Martech products for consumer marketing, acquisition, segmentation/targeting, and loyalty to drive engagement, spend, and redemption behaviors for premier retail brands globally
- Experience with tech stacks including but not limited to public or private cloud platforms (e.g., AWS (preferred), Azure, GCP, Kubernetes), microservices (e.g., NET Core, Ruby, GoLang , NodeJS), front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular), data technologies (e.g., SQL Server, DynamoDB, Cassandra, Kafka/equivalent, AWS Athena) with a proven track record of operational excellence with security, privacy, and scale; drive operational improvements to continually improve service levels for critical customer facing capabilities including interfacing with and enabling customer delivery and support teams.
- Proven ability to collaborate and prevent/breakdown silos in a matrixed and globally distributed organization to reuse vs. recreate, manage to budget targets with minimal variance, drive efficiencies with service providers (internal and external)
- Proven knowledge of AWS economics and demonstrated ability to optimize AWS operational costs, maximize time to value and other business and technology outcomes
- Awareness of global privacy initiatives across government and industry (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, post-3rd-party-cookie, Apple IDFA/App Tracking Transparency) and implications to ethical digital marketing, consumer engagement, loyalty and security
- Additionally, this role will collaborate with our Prague Tech Site leader to ensure smooth operations and support brand development in the local market and interact with other functional and Program resources at Mastercard’s Prague site to foster a collaborative culture across the organization
